Gabby Bernstein said “True abundance isn’t based on our net worth, it’s based on our self-worth.” Of late I’ve had more opportunities to have figurative light shone on my abundance, the reasons and story why less important than more. Each of us might have a different definition of abundance. Some of us might define it in terms of the quantity of something e.g.”we have an abundance of tomatoes in our garden.” Some of us might view it as having a lot of many things e.g. food safety, personal security, health, financial security, etc.

The opposite of abundance is scarcity, an approach that’s helped us survive as a species generally speaking, but alone as a mindset perhaps not the healthiest of ways to approach life. For every win there’s a loss. There’s not enough for you and me so what about me? Scarcity breeds stress and anxiety. It can lead to a tunnel vision approach and a difficulty in being genuinely happy for someone else’s happiness or perceived success.

In a similar way that practicing gratitude alters brain chemistry, boosts health and immune functions, and can lead to better sleep, practicing an abundance mentality can do the same. Can you find the sources of abundance in your life? Are there things for which you can find gratitude and appreciation?

For this second half of the year I invite you to begin your day with a new practice–hydrate with 12-16 oz of water when you wake up and find 5 things for which you’re grateful and 5 sources of abundance in your life. You can write them down or speak them or say them in your head. Your body’s brain and heart will thank you and you’ll begin your day on a trajectory of appreciation and abundance.

I’d love to hear how it goes for you!
