For 25 years, Brett has served as an internist and pediatrician in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Halfway through his medical practice, he experienced relational challenges brought on by emotion-suppression strategies learned in early childhood and during medical training.

Brett grew to understand the importance of healthy, thriving relationships at work and at home. As a result, Brett started to devote his time and energy to the skills of relationship building and maintenance.

Today, Brett works half time as a primary-care physician. He dedicates the other half of his time to coaching medical students and other physicians in emotional awareness and emotional regulation. MenLiving allows him to grow and learn in the area of emotional development, and he can use his outstanding teaching and facilitation skills in the service of others.

Brett grew up in Lake Arrowhead, California, and graduated with a BA in biology from the University of California, San Diego. He moved to Chicago in 1992 to start medical school, and he met his wife, Mary Frances, his first year. He now lives in Wales, Wisconsin.
