Building Generations: Become a Sage this Spring

Earlier this year, MenLiving partnered with Sages & Seekers for our first intergenerational co-mentorship cohort. Eight men over the age of 60 were paired with eight high school and college-age young men for a seven-week virtual conversation series — and the experience was deeply meaningful for everyone involved.

Mark Mandernach, who came to MenLiving late last year through our AARP Illinois partnership, shared this reflection:

“My first go-around as a sage was gratifying in many ways. My seeker was a high school senior from Bogotá, Colombia, hoping to attend a Big Ten university. We quickly developed a conversational rhythm that felt effortless despite our 48-year age difference.  It might sound cliché, but I learned so much from that young man — and I hope he would say the same of me. I cherished the experience.”

Because of the success of the first cohort, we are launching a second MenLiving group with Sages & Seekers beginning April 14, meeting Tuesday evenings from 7:30–8:30 PM Central for seven weeks.

If you are 60 or older and interested in being part of this powerful intergenerational experience, please reach out to jim@menliving.org by March 20 to learn more.
